Ideally, these lists are easy to print, as brief as possible, give enough information to assess the value of objects (for insurance purposes), and to know what to buy in case of loss.
To shorten the main lists, the comments, instructions for use, examples of bad purchases to be avoided, etc., are in separate lists.

Other sources of bias:
- I live in Canada (sometimes rather cold climate, relatively rich country, etc.).
- I don't want to climb Mt. Everest, but live comfortably in an apartment, while having the capacity to do "urban camping" in emergency situations.
- This is for a male bachelor (so nothing for families or women).
Of course, I'd eventually like to offer lists adapted to other climates, other marital statuses, other trades, etc. Please contact me if you have any suggestions!
Description: A brief description of the object.
Price: Prices are either my best approximation, or the price indicated in the online catalog of the vendor (in Canadian dollars, no taxes). If a quantity is indicated for that object, the price is the TOTAL amount (unit cost times quantity).
Brand: Vendors (like the MEC, Sears, etc.) are indicated mostly to better describe the object, not to give these vendors publicity. In fact, in several cases the object sold by these vendors is highly improvable. The list of vendors is given in "A few good hyperlinks".
Quantity: One by default.
Includes: Sometimes, the object contains several other objects, which are not important enough to justify a separate entry in the list. There are listed here.
Photo. Comment. Hyperlinks either to the picture where that object can be seen, or comments giving more information on this object.
Maintenance: Some objects need special maintenance instructions.
Rationale: Some objects don't seem important off hand, so I explain here why they are in the list.
Problems: When none of the objects available on the market is satisfactory, I try to explain why here.
