In Canada, anybody can kill any baby for any reason, from conception until birth.

Criminal Code of Canada, Section 223 (1): A child becomes a human person within the meaning of this Act when it has completely proceeded, in a living state, from the body of its mother.

The Supreme Court (R. v. Morgentaler, 1988 CanLII 90) invalidated the section of the Criminal Code which dealt with abortion, and the Canadian Parliament never replaced it, thereby giving an intentional legal vacuum.

The "My body, my choice" argument is false.

For something to be a part of your body, at least three conditions are required: the genetic code must be the same; the same blood must circulate; the part's function must fit with that of the whole.

But the baby inside its mother doesn't have the same genetic code (it's a mix of the father's and the mother's genes). The baby often has a blood type incompatible with the mother's. The final result of the pregnancy is not to give the mother a new lung, or a new kidney, or a new eye, etc.

Abortion doesn't just kill children, it also kills our moral sense.

Even if you try to avoid thinking about abortion, the problem of human dignity remains. When does human dignity begin? (Some want to legalize killing babies born with a severe disability.) When does human dignity end? (Think of the whole problem of euthanasia for the elderly.) And especially, what is the basis for human dignity?

If babies are just bunches of molecules temporarily assembled by a purposeless evolution, then everything is permitted, not just abortion. But if each baby has a spiritual soul created in the image and likeness of God, then...
